“Service is important in your own life, in your own character. No one can tell you how to live or what cause to serve. But everyone needs some cause larger than his or own profit. Apathy has no adventures. Cynicism leaves no monuments. And a person who is not responsible for others is a person who is truly alone.” - President George W. Bush on the Peace Corps Service
Peace Corps constitutes a unique approach to development. It is a quiet and gentle form of development. We do not build infrastructure such as roads or bridges. Perhaps more importantly, we build roads to hearts and minds and bridges among peoples. The current American foreign policy stance purports to win hearts and minds. I think Peace Corps does this better than any other American agency, which in these troubled times, holds infinite significance. owen johns

a noble ethos. We can all contribute in some way in our lives, be of service to our fellow man in some way. Giving is showing our genuine gratitude for being on this beloved planet.
